Download the previous version of the current release the classic Arduino 1.0.x, or the Arduino 1.5.x Beta version. All the Arduino 00xx versions are also available for download. The Arduino IDE can be used on Windows, Linux (both 32 and 64 bits), and Mac OS X.

What’s a MAC Address?

Step 4: Now go on to download the Arduino IDE on your Mac. To do this, open Safari on your Mac and just go to the website www.arduino.cc. Once you have opened the website, go to the software section and click on downloads from the dropdown menu. Now select the Mac OS X version, hit download and wait for the download to finish. Marlin Marlin is a popular open source firmware for the RepRap family of 3D printers. It is straightforward.

MAC Address stands for Media Access Control Address and it is a hardware unique identifier that identifies each device on a network.

MAC Addresses are made up of six groups of two hexadecimal digits, separated by colons, for example: 30:AE:A4:07:0D:64.

MAC Addresses are assigned by manufacturers, but you can also give a custom MAC Address to your board. However, every time the board resets, it will return to its original MAC Address. So, you need to include the code to set a custom MAC Address in every sketch.

Get ESP32 or ESP8266 MAC Address

To get your board MAC Address, simply upload the following code to the ESP32 or ESP8266. The code is compatible with both boards.

Demonstration

After uploading the code, open the Serial Monitor at a baud rate of 115200. Press the on-board RESET or EN button.

The MAC Address should be printed in the Serial Monitor as shown in the following figure.

That’s it! Now, you know how to get your ESP32 or ESP8266 board MAC Address.

Set a Custom MAC Address for ESP32 and ESP8266

In some applications, it might be useful to give your boards a custom MAC Address. However, as explained previously, this doesn’t overwrite the MAC Address set by the manufacturer. So, every time you reset the board, or upload a new code, it will get back to its default MAC Address.

Change ESP32 MAC Address (Arduino IDE)

The following code sets a custom MAC Address for the ESP32 board.

You can set a custom MAC Address in the following line:

Download

After uploading the code, open the Serial Monitor at a baud rate of 115200. Restart the ESP32 and you should get its old and new MAC Address.

Change ESP8266 MAC Address (Arduino IDE)

The following code sets a custom MAC Address for the ESP8266 board.

Set your custom MAC Address on the following line:

After uploading the code, open the Serial Monitor at a baud rate of 115200. Restart the ESP8266 and you should get its old and new MAC Address.

Follow these steps to install a library in Mac OSX.

Close the Arduino IDE

First make sure that

Arduino Mac Os

all instances of the Arduino IDE are closed. The IDE only scans for libraries at startup. It will not see your new library as long as any instance of the IDE is open!

Download the Zip File

Make sure to select a released version of the library. Some library repositories are still in development, and may contain unreleased or untested code. The 'Releases' button takes you to the tested and released versions.

  1. Click the 'Releases' button on the Github repository page to find the released version of the library.
  2. Then download the zip file.

Find it in the Downloads Folder

OSX will automatically open the zip file there.

Drag it to your Libraries Folder

Open your sketchbook Libraries folder and drag the master folder from Downloads into it.

Give it a Legal Name

The IDE will not recognize folders with dashes in the name. So you must rename the Github Master Folder. Underscores are OK!

Re-start the IDE

Restart the Arduino IDE and verify that the library appears in the File->Examples menu.
Load one of the library examples to test.

Verify that it Compiles

Click the check-mark icon in the upper left and verify that the example sketch compiles without errors.

Ardublockly is a visual programming editor for Arduino. It is based on Google's Blockly, which has been forked to generate Arduino code.

The 'ArdublocklyServer' Python package initialises a local server to be able to compile and load the Arduino code using the Arduino IDE.

This is all packaged in a self contained executable:

Features

  • Generate Arduino code with visual drag-and-drop blocks
  • Load the code to an Arduino Board
  • Useful 'code block warnings'
  • Compatible with a wide range of official Arduino Boards
  • Runs on Windows / Linux / Mac OS X

Ardublockly is still under development and a few features are not yet implemented. A to-do list can be found in the TODO.md file.

Currently tested under Windows with Python 2.7 and 3.4 and in Linux and MacOS X with Python 2.7.

Online Demos

A demo of the current state of Ardublockly can be found in the following two links (to load the code into an Arduino requires Ardublockly to be executed locally):

Installing

There is a packaged version for Windows that runs as a stand-alone executable and can be downloaded from the Ardublockly repository releases page.

Installation instructions for developers can be found in this Github repository Wiki. This will work on Windows, Linux and MacOS X.

It also needs the Arduino IDE version 1.6 or higher.

Running

  1. Install Ardublockly.
  2. Install the Arduino IDE version 1.6 or higher.
  3. Run Ardublockly as defined in your installation method.
  4. Configure Ardublockly to locate the Arduino IDE following these instructions.

Documentation

The documentation, including installation instructions, configuration instructions, and developer information can be found in the Ardublockly GitHub repository Wiki.

To download the documentation you can git clone the wiki data:
